EAST Lancashire fielded three sets of brothers as they claimed an impressive win over Accrington as the Lancashire League Twenty20 burst into life on Friday night.

The Blackburn side coasted to a nine-wicket win but the game was notable for the four Turners, two Chesters and two Bhadas who took to the field.

Young Danny Chester bowled well and conceeded just 10 runs in his four overs as Accrington posted 131-6 but on a chilly and gloomy night East Lancs got home in style winning the contest by nine wickets thanks to 77 not out from professional Ockert Erasmus.

Umpire Clifford Ashworth was hit in the face by a Paul Gallagher drive as he stood in Ramsbottom’s win over Edenfield.

Ashworth lost five teeth in the incident as Edenfield unsuccessfully chased Ramsbottom’s 152-7 and was taken to hospital with Acre Bottom chairman Rod Hamer deputising.

Gallagher made 23 and was visably distressed but Ashworth was released from hospital after treatment.

Rawtenstall beat Haslingden at Bacup Road with Connor Glover claiming 5-26.

Glover helped bowl out Haslingden for 93 as they tried to chase Rawtenstall’s 154-5, a score reached thanks to Jon Kerrigan’s 82.

Ben Sutcliffe hit an unbeaten 65 in Todmorden’s 72 run win over Colne and Church beat Rishton by 54 runs at West End, while Richard Meade claimed 4-8 as Nelson beat Burnley by 14 runs.
