SIR Alex Ferguson has promised Blackburn Rovers fans ‘we won’t be doing Blackpool any favours’ as Steve Kean’s men prepare for a tense final day relegation shootout.
Rovers travel to fellow strugglers Wolves on Sunday knowing a win would be enough to secure safety but anything else would leave their top flight status reliant on help from elsewhere after weekend wins for Blackpool, Wolves and Wigan.
Blackpool travel to Old Trafford in the last of the relegation spots needing victory to pile the pressure on Rovers but, despite already clinching the title, Ferguson insists United will not be taking it easy.
The Manchester United boss said: “This gives us the opportunity to look at how we can rest players and see who needs to be kept going ahead of the Champions League final.
“A weakness last time we played the cup final though was when we played the reserve team against Hull City.
“We have a responsibility to make sure we are fair to all clubs who are struggling against relegation.
"Manchester United, as always, will try to win next Sunday, there is no doubt about that.”
