Arguably the greatest professional ever to grace the Lancashire League, Learie Constantine, will be honoured on Friday.
The West Indian, pro at Nelson between 1929 and 1937, was knighted in 1962 and in 1969 became the first person of African descent to be made a life peer.
Pendle Mayor Tony Beckett will unveil a plaque to honour Lord Learie at his old house in Meredith Street before attending a dinner at Seedhill in the evening.
