ROB Bolton claimed four wickets as Houghton claimed a fine Palace Shield win over Fylde seconds on Saturday.

Bolton claimed 4-30 and was aided by Andrew Taylor (2-9) and Josh Holland (2-22) as Fylde were 80 all out.

And then Darren Eccles took over with the bat and hit an unbeaten 51 to see his side home by five wickets.

White Coppice were beaten at Torrisholme as they failed to chase down the home side’s 171-7 David Hewson hit 78 as Ecclestone eased past Kirkham and Wesham in Division Two, while Withnell Fold were big winners over Vernon Carus thirds.

Eccleston seconds were winners in Division Three, but Hoghton seconds were beaten at South Shore.

And in Division Four there was defeat for Ribchester as they went down to Blackpool thirds.

But the performance of the day came from Terrence Markham, who claimed all 10 wickets for Whittle-le-Woods as Mawdesley collapsed to 23 all out in Division Two.

Markham returned the remarkable figures of 10-5 as his side won in a canter.

Markham’s incrediblle full figures of 11.1-6-5-10 bettered the record of 10-12 set 58 years ago by M Doran of Bradshaws vs Great Eccleston II.
