THE ACCRINGTON and District Junior Football League has brought the curtain down on another successful season with its cup finals spread over two weekends at two different venues.

Accrington Stanley’s Crown Ground and Shawbridge at Clitheroe FC hosted the cup finals for age groups under nines to under 16s.

And, as always on such occasions, there were winners and losers, tears and cheers, drama and plenty of goals.

No fewer than 33 goals were scored in the eight finals. And the only one that remained goalless provided the drama of a penalty shoot-out – Wilpshire Wanderers defeating Crown Paints on spot kicks to win the U10s Cup.

Wanderers were busier than most over the two weekends as they featured in four of the cup finals, winning two and losing two.

There was also success for Rishton United, Rossendale United, Rossendale Valley Tigers, Dynomos SP, Mill Hill and AFC Darwen.
