STEVE Kean was relatively pleased with the draw at West Ham United that moved Blackburn Rovers closer to safety this afternoon.

Rovers had looked set for victory after Jason Roberts put them in front in the 13th minute but they were pegged back when Thomas Hitzlsperger levelled with 11 minutes left and then had to hang on for a point.

Kean went into the game without the injured Michel Salgado and David Dunn, while Phil Jones was also a late withdrawal with a back spasm and Nikola Kalinic had to be sent home because of illness.

"It's a big point," said the Rovers boss.

"We came to set up and be hard to beat, and try to invite West Ham to come out.

"We felt as though they had to come and beat us and that was going to leave space to attack in the full back areas. I thought we did well in the first half.

"We probably had to get the second goal just to get that cushion but we knew West Ham were going to throw all sorts of attacking options on to try to get back in it and it proved difficult to get a block on the Hitzlsperger shot.

"But in the last seven Premier League games we've had five positive results, so I'd think we're one of the form teams in the bottom half now."
