FORMER Blackburn Rovers youngster Jeff Hopkins came tied second in the prestigious 72-hole Lytham Trophy.

The Irishman, who was on the Ewood Park club’s books before a knee injury curtailed a possible football career, finished five shots behind the winner, England’s Jack Senior.

Chorley-based Tom Stuart came joint 51st, Andrew Palmer of Chorley GC 58th, Shaw Hill’s Jonathan Hurst 66th and Mark Young of Longridge 105th.
