Lancashire will hope the Stanley Park ground in Blackpool is in fine condition for next week's county cricket game against Warwickshire on 30, 31 August, 1 and 2 September.

Warwickshire make their tenth visit to Blackpool, a sequence that began in 1908 when Lancashire were victorious by two wickets with Bill Huddleston's 7-51 the best bowling return at Blackpool up to that time.

There followed five drawn games between 1910 and 1965.

In the game in 1947 Dick Pollard, later Preston's professional in the Northern League, took the second hat-trick at Blackpool and in 1959 Warwickshire's Jim Stewart struck a world record 18 sixes in the game, Jack Dyson and Malcolm Hilton being two Lancashire bowlers who suffered more than most!

Warwickshire won in 1973 and again in 1976, Mike Smith making an imperious 161 in the former game, before Lancashire brought the Blackpool series to 2-2 with in 1997 when Warren Hegg and Gary Yates took Lancashire to an exciting three-wicket last day victory.

Weather permitting, Lancashire will be looking to make strides towards winning their first outright championship title since 1934 when the two sides meet next week.
