A DOMINIC Knowles double set up a potential title decider with Preston for Burnley, after they beat Accrington Stanley Reserves tonight.

The Clarets entertain the current totesport.com league leaders in their final game of the season at Turf Moor next Wednesday needing to win that, and hoping neighbouring Stanley do them a favour in their last game against North End to be crowned champions.

Knowles struck early and late in the second half, and there could have been more for Ashley Hoskin's young charges had it not been for Ian Dunbavin sparing a more experienced Reds line-up further punishment as he saved smartly from Wes Fletcher, while Ross Wilson had a shot deflected.

Meanwhile, Chris McCann's exit on the hour left Burnley fans pondering whether he would feature in Saturday's senior squad at Derby County after coming through the last three reserve games following his recovery from reconstructive knee surgery in the summer.

The teams played out a goalless first half at Turf Moor, after the fixture was switched from Stanley's Crown Ground at the 11th hour.

Burnley were forced into an early change when midfielder Joe McKee limped off in the 16th minute, replaced by Steve Hewitt.

The substitute was brought down on the edge of the box but Michael King curled the free kick wide, while Ray Putterill just missed the target with a fierce drive for Accrington.

Knowles broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, finishing confidently at the end of his run into the box.

Stanley substitute Antony Field brought a good save from Josh Cook before Knowles wrapped the game up in the 86th minute following good work by Wes Fletcher in the build-up.
