PETER TAYLOR has revealed it will be an entirely different side that faces Burnley to the one that crashed out of the Carling Cup during the week.

The Crystal Palace manager gave opportunities to a number of fringe players for the Notts County match at Selhurst Park.

But after watching his side humbled by their League Two opponents, Taylor has vowed to ring the changes, although he was keeping his cards fairly close to his chest regarding who would slot in where.

He said: "There will be nine different starters on Saturday from those who started on Tuesday.

"We finished off with a very good performance at Birmingham last Saturday and if we play that way again, I'm sure I'll be very happy with that."

Just like Palace, the Clarets are nursing their wounds after two straight defeats.

And Taylor admitted he was preparing for a tough test from Steve Cotterill's side who will be looking to overtake them in the league with a win.

He added: "I've known Steve Cotterill for a long time, from his non league days at Cheltenham and he's a very well-organised manager.

"I think they played a lot of 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 last year and Steve has got them very well-organised.

"Like ourselves they have had a very disappointing week with two losses so they will be looking to bounce back like we are."

One seasoned campaigner who has started the season brightly is Dougie Freedman. The Scotsman has been a thorn in Burnley's side in recent years, scoring in last season's 2-0 win and previously netting a hat-trick at Turf Moor.

He has come off the bench in every game so far this season and is expected to be fighting with Clinton Morrison for a starting slot alongside James Scowcroft.

Taylor said: "Dougie did very well (on Tuesday) and has done all season. He's pushing for a start so we'll have to see.

"He's a very intelligent lad, he's very fit and knows the game.

"He reminds me very much of Nick Barmby. I worked with him for two years at Hull and Dougie is exactly the same."
