Burnley have not appealed against the red card shown to Wayne Thomas.
The Clarets skipper was dismissed 14 minutes from time in the 1-0 defeat to Hartlepool, deemed to be the last man when he fouled Joel Porter in the penalty area.
And after reviewing the incident on tape, manager Steve Cotterill admitted he did not think he could get the decision overturned on appeal.
He said: "If we want to talk about inches, then Wayne is not the last man but whether Michael Duff could have covered or not, I don't know.
"I am not convinced if I asked the referee to look at the video tape, whether he could see it no matter how many times he looked at it.
I just didn't think that an appeal was worth it because I am not sure."
Thomas will now serve a one-match ban at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
