DEPLETED Mill Hill, ravaged by illness and injury, could only muster 10 players – and that included an outfield player in goal.

And they faced a Rangers side who, despite only winning once all season, sensed the game was there for the taking.

It was Rangers who who had the first chance to take the lead when Niall Hayes played in Lee Moseley but he was denied by stand-in keeper Shay Stanley before Alex Crangle screwed the loose ball just wide.

At the other end, Ryan Cooke, up against his former team-mates, crossed from the left to Bradley Langhorn who was foiled by the outstanding Brandon Embley who then pulled off an even better save to beat away Guinan’s follow up.

But Langhorn wasn’t to be denied next time around and he beat Embley with a well stuck rising effort.

It was soon 2-0 when Reece Donlon’s pass released Langhorn who raced clear to score.

Rangers were on the attack early after the restart and skipper Steve Brown used his power to drill a shot across goal.

The impressive Bradley Martin then pulled a goal back when he stepped around Stanley to fire the ball home.

With just a goal in it, the match was finely poised.

Embley again kept Rangers in it with a flying save to deny Langhorn while a flowing Mill Hill move, started by the hard-working Guinan, ended with Cooke firing wide.

At the other, Tom Price released Brown and the Rangers captain again showed his shooting powers with an angled drive.

Embley then produced his best save of the match, leaping to turn away Cooke’s powerful drive.

But Mill Hill restored their two-goal advantage when Elliott Brown received a short throw-in just inside the Rangers half and weaved his way past four players before firing the ball home.

Embley denied Langhorn his hat-trick with another great save but Cooke wrapped up victory with the goal he craved against his former team-mates.
