MARTIN Olsson insists ‘attacking football can be winning football’ as he backs Steve Kean’s new footballing philosophy to pay dividends at Ewood Park.

Blackburn Rovers’ Swedish international is relishing a new licence to get forward given to him by Rovers’ boss and insists the squad has full confidence the approach will bring success.

Rovers travel to Aston Villa on Saturday looking to end a four-match winless streak and Olsson believes ‘trust’ will see them turn around results.

He said:”Keano is playing some positive football with all of us and we enjoy playing this football. Attacking football can be winning football.

“We created so many chances against Tottenham the other week it was just that final touch.

"On another day we would have got three goals. We showed then we can keep things tight while playing attacking football.

“We have got a lot of players with loads of energy and we go forward and work back together.

"It feels good that I have the licence to go forward because we all trust each other.

"That is what we are doing, we are trusting each other.

“We aren’t just staying in one position now, we are able to move about because we have that trust in each other and that freedom.

“We are a team and we have to stick together. We can work for each other and run for each other.

"We are trying to play football.

"No one is afraid to get on the ball and that is the best thing.

"If we keep doing that we are only going to get better.”
