JUNIOR Hoilett is out to secure a long-term Ewood Park future after admitting he now considers Blackburn as his home.

Rovers’ Canadian sensation will bid to continue his recent scintillating form in today’s Premier League visit of Newcastle United as he puts a frustrating start to his senior career behind him.

Supporters are already calling for Hoilett to be handed a new deal beyond his current commitment to the summer of 2012, with a number of players having already signed new contracts.

Hoilett though insists there is no rush to open contract talks and believes if he continues to perform on the pitch, then his Rovers future will look after itself.

He said: “Of course I see myself being here longer. When a player is doing well at the club and everything is going well, like it is for me here, then of course you want to stay.

“Of course I see myself as Blackburn Rovers past my current contract. Right now I am just focused on football and that side of the game will come.

“I have been here since I was 13 so I have been here for a long time and I have been developed here as a player and as a person. I am happy here and would like to stay here.

“I have been here for almost eight years so Blackburn is my home now.”

Hoilett was tipped to be the next big thing at Rovers after coming through the club’s academy and making his Premier League break through at the start of last season.

Last campaign was to prove a struggle for him, having already battled against visa problems, and was made to wait until the last couple of months to really establish himself as a first team regular.

“Family, friends and players around me helped me,” said Hoilett. “They gave me the confidence and told me not to lose faith and just to keep working hard.

“I have been working hard every day and now I am getting my chance with the first team and have to keep working hard to stay in the first team.

“I never lost faith, my family just told me to keep faith and keep working hard and my time will come. Of course when you are not in the team, anybody would be upset. You are down on yourself but you can’t let it stop you believing and working to achieve.

“When you are sitting and watching games you wish you get on the field so when you do you know you have to take the chance.

You don’t want to go back, no player wants to go back to the stands so it gives you the motivation to be stronger when you get that opportunity.

“When you are training all week and end up not in the squad and in the reserves it is hard but you have to have that self belief in yourself and know when you get that chance you have to take it.”

While Hoilett’s Rovers’ reputation continues to grow, there is one big career decision he isn’t yet ready to make.

He said “I have not made any international decisions - right now I am just focusing on the first team.

"So we'll have to see about England. I will always be Canadian but all the options are open - Canada, Jamaica and possibly the USA and maybe one day England.

“The calls have come from Canada but right now I don't think it is the right time for me to go - I am just focusing on my football for Blackburn Rovers. ”
