WHAT a fortnight it has been for Blackburn Rovers fans.

A lot of supporters have complained in the past of being ignored - well, Venky's takeover has certainly changed all that.

Rovers have become national headlines overnight and not, for the majority, in a good way as Sam Allardyce's shock sacking stunned the footballing world.

The Ewood faithful will have been looking on with dismay as their club became the butt of their rival's jokes. The publicity really could not have got any worse.

Now the dust is finally starting to settle on a bizarre fortnight, maybe it is time to take a step back and take a clearer look at the situation.

Let's deal with Allardyce's sacking. Was it deserved? No.

But a large minority of Rovers fans had been calling for Big Sam's head for a while now.

You get the feeling had Venky's axed Sam and immediately replaced him with a manager like Martin O'Neill, Martin Jol or even Alan Shearer, there would have been half the fuss.

Fair enough as well. It is a risk taking a punt on Kean but, from first impressions, he seems to possess the right qualities to make it a success.

Of course Rovers are entering into the unknown but in Kean they have a young, energetic manager who has the advantage of knowing the squad and knowing the scouting set-up.

Continuity could prove vital ahead of the January transfer window, with Kean able to know who will fit his squad and who wouldn't.

Other managers would not have that luxury.

The final issue, and maybe the biggest, is the influence of Kentaro and SEM.

Rumours are rife that Venky's advisers are the mastermind behind the decisions but the owners themselves have vehemently denied that.

If they are to believed then Kean will have final say on all transfers and Rovers will have a substantial transfer kitty for the first time in a long time.

Isn't it nice hearing about someone making Rovers a top five side again one day?

Realistic or not, only time will tell, but why not start to dream again?

Don't get me wrong, I don't understand the sacking of Allardyce any more now than I did then.

I still think it was wrong and handled in the wrong way.

The simple fact of the matter, though, was Sam was never to Venky's taste - for whatever reason.

They are now in charge and have pledged to back their man - Steve Kean - with money and lots of it.

The cynics will remain but all anyone can do now is judge them on results.

Kean was right when he said 'the future starts now'.
