BRETT Emerton believes he is ready to make a Premier League impact but insists he will continue to let his feet do the talking.

Rovers’ Australian midfielder scored his first league goal for almost two years to earn Rovers a last-gasp 2-1 win at Lancashire rivals Blackpool on Saturday and kick start his own season.

Emerton, who has yet to make a Premier League start, came on for Mame Biram Diouf at half time and ultimately spared Rovers’ blushes as their lack of ruthlessness again threatened to hurt them.

Emerton though isn’t about to start complaining about his lack of first team opportunities, instead insisting he will just make sure he takes his chances when they come.

He said: “It has been frustrating for me. As a player you always want to be playing but the boys have been doing a decent job and I recognise that.

“I recognise it is a team game and it is a very long season. Everyone will get their opportunity throughout the year and I am just working as hard as I can to make sure I am 100 per cent ready when I get my chance.

“I am not the sort to go knocking on the manager’s door. I try to let my feet do the talking on the pitch, on the training ground and when I get my opportunity.

“It is a team game, although you want to play, you have to support your team mates and be ready when your time comes.

“Obviously he has his reasons for leaving me out, the biys have been doing okay so no reason to chop and change the team. My time will come and I am going to make sure I am ready.”

Emerton's winner spoilt what looked like being a dream Premier League debut for Blackpool youngster Matt Phillips, whose 85th minute strike cancelled out Charlie Adam's own goal opener.

And having thrown away leads in five Premier League games this season, the Australian knows the ending pof his goal drought was more then timely.

He said: “My last league goal was certainly a while ago. It was a great feeling to get the win in the end and the boys showed how much it meant to them.

“It fell to me, aim for bottom corner, and luckily it went in. It is something I have been working hard on in training. It felt quite natural.

“I hate watching, I would rather be playing of course. Last couple of weeks I have come off the bench, I feel good physically and when needed I am definitely ready.”
