UNCERTAINTY has been the buzz word among Blackburn Rovers fans this summer with takeover talk, Sam Allardyce’s future and an empty transfer kitty dominating conversations of the blue half of East Lancashire.

On face value, you can certainly see why Rovers fans are worrying as well.

Neighbours Burnley are seemingly loaded, while Rovers’ complete transfer inactivity must be frust-rating to the fans more used to laughing at the Clarets’ financial woes.

Let’s get real though – things aren’t too bad are they?

While Brian Laws & co are getting ready for the Championship, Rovers are continuing their longest ever stay in the Premier League, with a manager the envy of most of their rivals.

Yes. One day Rovers do need new owners. The Walker Trust have seem-ingly taken the club as far as they can and a cash boost is needed if they are to continue at the top level in the long term.

I know that, you know that and believe me, Sam Allardyce and the club’s board of directors know that. Work is ongoing to find the right buyers and will be until the void is filled.

Indian businessman Saurin Shah undoubtedly whetted the appetite of supporters when he made his interest in Rovers known earlier this summer. What he would bring to the club though remains a mystery.

Everything is being done behind the scenes to find the right people to take the club forward and, if Mr Shah is that, then Rovers will be better placed than anyone to make that judgement.

At the moment it is all conjecture, supposition and speculation. Mr Shah is not commenting on the process any more, while Rovers have always remained tight lipped (you wouldn’t expect anything else).

Phone calls, emails – even tweets – have been put in to Mr Shah and his uncle Niranjan to no avail. A veil of secrecy isn’t a bad thing either with the whole thing at a delicate stage.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a one-horse race either. There are other interested parties who have remained defiantly quiet – on the record anyway – about their ongoing interest.

There is a popular myth around the club that the Trust were left a strict criteria as to who they could sell the club to by the late Jack Walker. This doesn’t exist.

What does exist though is a group of people with Blackburn Rovers very much at their heart. Their morals, ethics and beliefs will make sure they do everything to find the right people for Rovers.

No one is saying too much for fear of jeopardising any future buy-out any more and now it is time for everyone to leave the people behind the scenes to sort out the club’s future.

The new Premier League season is just around the corner, the players are back in training and there is a lot to look forward to on the field with Sam Allardyce’s young guns looking to repeat last season’s top 10 finish.

Allardyce and Rovers have seemingly decided to carry on as they were for the moment. They know they can’t afford to simply wait for extra investment as they look to fine tune their squad.

Don’t get me wrong, the process of due diligence – opening up the accounts – could be entered at any point now. But the truth is that has been the case for the past 12 months or longer.

It equally wouldn’t be a major surprise if in 12 months time nothing has changed at the top. These are uncertain times but, on the field, they can still be enjoyable times.

Let’s just be thankful the stories linking Sam Allardyce with vacancies at West Ham and Dubai outfit Al Ahli were not true and that Rovers can enter the new campaign with one of the game’s canniest bosses.

Blackburn still expects.
