The Northern League reaches the halfway point of the season tomorrow and Darwen take centre stage in the match of the day.
The in-form Birch Hall outfit face a tough home game against league leaders Leyland, whose form this year – 10 wins from 12 games – has seen them open up a 23-point gap at the top over second-placed Barrow.
But Darwen, who will again be captained by Neil Cordingley in the absence of brother John, are in form themselves and have not been beaten since May 8, although their five-match winning run came to an end last Saturday when they were forced to hang on for a draw at Blackpool last Saturday.
On Sunday Darwen are at Bolton League outfit Farnworth in the ECB National Knockout.
