Clitheroe Cobras beat Cherry Tree to lift the Under 15s Knockout Cup in front of a bumber crowd at Chatburn Road.

The Clitheroe bowlers took control right from the start and never let go of the stranglehold.

Some early accurate bowling from Andy Ramsden and also Sam Bristol, backed up with brilliant catching, and sharp ground fielding restricted the Blackburn side to 21 runs with a third of their overs used up.

Kristian Collinge then ripped out the Cherry Tree middle order taking three wickets for 10 runs in a three over spell and, along with a miserly spell from Josh Dean, the pair ensured the Cherry Tree tail didn’t wag too much as they restricted the visitors to a run rate of under four an over.

Chasing 78 runs to win, Clitheroe’s batsmen were never under pressure and a second wicket stand of 50 runs between Hugh Graham and Sam Richardson took away any anxiety that may have existed in the ranks.

Once Graham departed, Richardson was joined at the crease by George Drake and together the pair saw the Cobras home to reach the winning total with eight overs to spare.

The Cobras now go forward to represent the Ribblesdale league in the Lancashire Cup.
