A LUXURY golf trip to the Bahamas awaits amateur Michael Anderson and his Nelson professional Simon Eaton if they come through the regional final of Europe’s biggest pro-am event, the Virgin Atlantic PGA National Pro-Am Championship Anderson, a 49-year-old optician from Burnley, took a big step towards a luxury trip when winning his club qualifying competition with a nett score of 65.

He and Eaton, 34, a professional at Nelson for three years, now advance to St Annes Old Links Golf Club on Wednesday May 19, one of 16 regional finals.

l Chorley-based Tom Stuart shot 77 and 74 and Shaw Hill’s Sean Nicholls 75 and 78 at the West of England Amateur Strokeplay Championship at Royal North Devon Golf Club last week.

l Pleasington pair Jack Brooks and Michael Hunt, along with Blackburn’s Steven McGlynn, won their single matches as Lancashire ‘B’ defeated Cheshire 10-5 at Sale Golf Club.
