ONE of East Lancashire’s most popular motorsport enthusiasts will be remembered this weekend, when Clitheroe DMC host the Jack Neal Memorial Rally.

Over 50 cars and crews are expected to start the two-day event at Blyton in Lincolnshire, named after the hugely-popular MSA scrutineer.

Clerk-of-the-course Bruce Lindsay has laid out a demanding 20 stages totalling over 100 miles at the former RAF Bomber Command airfield.

“As well as the on-track action, we’ve decided to make the rally much more social, and have arranged for full catering facilities for the whole weekend, including a 42ft articulated wagon which houses a bar and seating area, and a free Sunday night hog roast for the competitors and their service crew.”

The club is still accepting entries, contact Phillipa Smith, e-mail: pip21@live.co.uk, or tel: 01254 603836 or 07591 036288, and volunteer marshals, contact John Cressey, tel: 07855311146 or you can email johncressey1@aol.com.

The event is being sponsorsed for a second year by Proflex UK, based in Clitheroe, thanks to the generosity of managing director Gordon Birtwistle, and M.A.D Motorsport, the engineering arm of Mini Sport of Padiham, run by well-known rally driver Daniel Harper.

All the proceeds from the event will go to the North West Air Ambulance in Jack’s memory.
