BURNLEY are still seeking a magic formula to end their six-game losing streak.

Yet despite recent results, the training ground philosophy has remained the same in preparation for two home games in five days .

A little tinkering is all the Clarets management team feel will bring about an upturn in fortunes.

And ahead of tonight's clash with Norwich City at Turf Moor, assistant boss Dave Kevan is confident that will happen sooner, rather than later.

"You do try and freshen things up a little bit," he insisted.

"The longer it goes on, the more you feel a change of shape or personnel may be the key, and it isn't through a lack of thought and trying.

"The run is there, but we're hoping to put that behind us now and move on with these two home games.

"You don't change everything overnight because that is what's got you results in the past and there's no reason why it shouldn't in the future.

"You do try and find that missing link, but we've tried to be consistent with what we deliver and expect and Im sure that will stand us in good stead."

Kevan added: "We felt last week (at Stoke) was a step in the right direction, although obviously the result didn't go along with that.

"But we certainly looked a little bit more solid and it's always nice to be back at Turf Moor, where I'm sure the supporters will be getting behind the lads in the next two matches to ensure we pick up some points.

"I think the first goal is important and we maybe have to strive a little harder to make sure it's us that gets it, but however the game pans out, we've got to dig in."

It's not just points that have been in short supply this year.

The goals have also dried up to accentuate the drop from fifth in the Championship at Christmas to 18th ahead of tonight's clash with the Canaries.

Michael Ricketts' is the only player to find the target in the last ten games, scoring the winner at home to Plymouth on February 4 and a consolation goal at Ipswich a week later.

However, the £750,000 signing of former Sunderland striker Andy Gray has given new impetus to the Clarets attack.

And Kevan believes they may well have unearthed the man to take over the goalscoring mantle from Ade Akinbiyi.

He said: "Since losing Ade we've tinkered with it up front and no-one's really grasped that nettle.

"We're hoping, and we're pretty confident, that Andy will be the man to take on that role.

"His fitness is probably a little bit down on what it may be, but he looks full of confidence and hungry to play football and I'm sure he'll be a great signing for us.

"We've signed a Premiership striker and hopefully he will form a good partnership with Michael.

"It's early days and there were one or two good signs at Stoke.

"They are both proven goalscorers at this level and what we need to do is try and create more chances for them, and give them more opportunities to show they can put the ball in the back of the net."
