TEENAGE stock car racer Micky Brennan has a new car and a new sponsor for 2006.
For the 17-year-old from Nelson is contesting the Formula Two Championship with backing from Colne businessman David Fishwick.
"Although Micky is just 17, he's already a well-established name amongst the stock car fraternity," explained Mr Fishwick, who runs David Fishwick Vehicle Sales in Byron Rd, Colne. "I've known his father, Dave, for a long time, so I was only too pleased to sponsor him this season.
"Micky has attained many achievements since he started racing at the tender age of 10 in Mini Stocks. He won the British Stock Car Championship, East Coast Championship, and finished second in the National Championship in 2002.
"In 2004, Micky once again win the British Stock Car Championship.
"In the world of stock car racing you are graded on achievement and this is determined by the colour of your roof. Micky started from scratch as a white top in his first year of Formula Two and continued his winning streak from the Mini Stocks with the title of Novice of the Year.
"His first year of Formula Two driving saw him finish 48th from over 530 drivers and finished as a blue top."
