ACCRINGTON Stanley striker Michael Symes is targeting his first ever 20-goal haul after ending a mini drought during the weekend defeat at Torquay United.
Stanley dropped to 12th in League Two after the 2-1 loss, leaving them five points behind Notts County in the final play-off spot ahead of the Magpies’ trip to the Crown Ground on Saturday.
But Symes scored his first goal in eight games at Torquay to take him on to 15 for the season, already exceeding his previous best tally during a campaign – 13 for Shrewsbury in 2006/07.
“I’d love to get to 20 and if I stay fit I think I can do that,” said the 26-year-old.
“If I’d been a bit more clinical I could have had 20 already with the chances I’ve had.”
