FULHAM boss Roy Hodgson tipped Accrington Stanley for League Two glory after admitting his Premier League millionaires had been given a proper examination at the Crown Ground on Saturday.

The Londoners won the FA Cup fourth round tie 3-1 but only really seized control when Stanley had been reduced to 10 men by the sending-off of Darran Kempson.

And the former Blackburn Rovers manager admitted: “It was every bit as tricky as I thought it would be.

“The first half in particular was challenging. Accrington were very aggressive in their pressure and in the tackling which they have every right to be.

“Unfortunately for them, the tackling led to the red card and red cards change games.”

Hodgson also believes that a visit to the Crown Ground is an eye opener for some members of his squad and added: “You get terribly spoiled in the Premier League.

“Every pitch in training and matches is like a billiard table and we don’t play against teams who never give you a moment of peace.

“So it’s a good experience for my players. And I think and hope they will go on to have a very good remainder of the season in League Two and really push for promotion.”

Winger Damian Duff added: “I think a few of our lads saw how football is played at the lower levels.

“It isn’t the best in the world and was a bit of a shock to some of them but the ground is the same for both sides.

“But fair credit to Accrington. They gave their all and never stopped fighting.

"They looked good at times and caused us a few problems.

“They put us on the back foot and gave us a few awkward moments and maybe 3-1 was a bit harsh on them but when they had the lad sent off it was a blow for them and I thought we controlled it from then.”
