Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill remained cautious about the outcome of the tie with Blackburn Rovers, despite winning the away leg 1-0.
And O'Neill insisted his side should have been awarded a penalty.
Gabriel Agbonlahor was cautioned after tumbling over Chris Samba's outstretched foot, with O'Neill furious to see his striker booked for simulation.
O'Neill said: “Considering we were away from home, I thought we played splendidly.
"We created a lot of chances and I am delighted with the performance.
“I thought it was a penalty kick and yet Gabriel Agbonlahor was booked for it. That is disappointing.
“I can't stress enough though this tie is very much in the balance.
"Blackburn Rovers are more than capable of coming here and winning.”
