BLACKBURN Rovers have submitted an offer for their latest striking target as they also wait for Chelsea starlet Franco Di Santo to agree to a season-long loan deal at Ewood Park.

An offer for an unknown foreign striker was believed to have been submitted yesterday afternoon, with Rovers hoping they have made progress in their search for extra firepower.

The club meanwhile expect to hear today whether Argentine striker Franco Di Santo will be coming to Ewood Park, after Chelsea agreed to the move northwards in principle.

Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti was expected to discuss the switch with Di Santo today, as he looks to provide the Argentine with first team experience, with the player now left to make the final decision on his immediate future.

Di Santo’s arrival though would ease concerns around Ewood Park, with Benni McCarthy, Jason Roberts and Paul Gallagher already at the club.

The 6ft 4ins 20-year-old striker is thought of very highly at Stamford Bridge and could be part of the solution to Rovers’ limited fire power.

He signed a four and a half year deal for Chelsea in January 2008 from Chilean outfit Audax Italiano and made a handful of substitute appearances for them last season.

He has just returned from Chelsea’s tour of America where he impressed and a temporary switch to Ewood is seen as the ideal move by his employers for his future development.
