MICHAEL Bisping is gearing up for the biggest fight of his life knowing if he can overcome a UFC legend he will get a title shot.

The Clitheroe mixed martial artist takes on Dan Henderson this weekend on the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s supercard for its 100th anniversary show.

Henderson, a former Olympic wrestler and MMA title holder with 24 wins from 31 MMA fights, represents Bisping’s toughest test to date inside the octagon cage.

But Bisping is confident he has what it takes to win a shot at Anderson Silva’s middleweight belt.

He said: “I feel I am getting better and better and people haven’t seen the full range of my skills. I am starting to feel at home in the octagon.

“People say he is a legend and I guess that is a fair description. You only have to look at his record all the big names he has beaten.

“I expect to come away with a sore jaw and be tested.

“I could be underestimating him, but, if I go and fight the way I can fight, I can beat him.”

Bisping, 30, has 17 wins and one defeat in his MMA career, but is unbeaten in three fights since dropping down to the 185lb middleweight section in April 2008.

UFC 100, billed as the biggest event in the sport’s history, also sees former WWE wrestler turned UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar versus Frank Mir and welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre against Thiago Alves.

The Las Vergas event, which takes place in the early hours of Sunday, July 11, was due to be screened on Setanta.

Since the broadcaster’s collapse UFC bosses have pledged that UK fans won’t miss out.

It is expected to be shown on either Bravo or Virgin One.
