ACCRINGTON Stanley are confident of receiving confirmation today that HM Revenue and Customs have accepted their formal proposals over an outstanding £300,000 tax bill.

Stanley yesterday submitted their proposals in writing after coming to a verbal agreement at a meeting in London on Friday.

The club are due to face winding up proceedings at the High Court tomorrow but are confident that their proposals will be accepted and the hearing will be adjourned.

“We agreed it with them verbally on Friday and we’ve put a proposal to them in writing now,” said general manager Dave O’Neill.

“We’ve not heard back from them yet but hopefully no news is good news. We might hear something on Tuesday.

“It has to come from the budget within the club rather than cash from outside, and the proposal is for monthly payments.”
