TURF Moor may need £1m of improvement work to bring it up to Premier League standard, but goalkeeper Brian Jensen believes Burnley’s home ground could be their biggest asset as they aim to stay in the top flight.

The Clarets know they will have their jobs" target="_blank">work cut out to avoid relegation, with the club likely to start the season with the lowest budget in the Premier League.

Burnley have been told that they must improve their changing rooms and press facilities at Turf Moor following promotion, and they also have plans to start jobs" target="_blank">work on a new David Fishwick Stand next summer.

But, despite the developments, Turf Moor has long been one of the least inviting grounds in the country for away teams and Jensen hopes the Clarets can use that to their advantage.

“I don’t think anybody in the top tier is looking forward to going to Turf Moor,” he said.

“Home games are probably going to be our main thing, then getting a few points away.”

Seven of Burnley’s north west rivals will visit Turf Moor in the Premier League.

But while games against the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Everton, Bolton and Wigan are appealing for the supporters, one name understandably stands out for Jensen.

“The Blackburn one, of course that one,” said the keeper, who was involved when the Clarets were edged out by Rovers in the FA Cup after a replay in 2005.

“It’s a big local derby. We played them a few years ago and it was a really tight game so it’s going to be really good fun.”

And, although he is not sure whether the exposure of playing in the top flight will aid his international ambitions with Denmark, Jensen has plenty of reasons to be happy about reaching the Premier League for the first time in his career.

The Premier League season starts on August 15 - a week later than the Championship - and Jensen joked: “I think we’re going to get an extra week off now, because I think the Premier League starts a week later, so that’s even better!”
