LEWIS Hamilton has the Formula One crown in his grasp - and I just hope he doesn't blow it this time.

At the same stage and the same Interlagos venue last season, the McLaren driver let the weight of expectation get the better of him.

He blew the start, ran off the road and a gearbox problem ended his hopes. He finished a creditable seventh but still lost the coveted drivers' crown by a single point to Kimi Raikkonen.

This time around, it is Brazilian Felipe Massa that is hoping to wrestle the title from his grasp in his home Grand Prix.

In a season where it seems Hamilton has been fighting the authorities, as well as the other teams, the British star has matured to such an extent that he seems almost the complete package at only 23.

Should he hold his nerve and become world champion, he will take his place alongside Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Graham Hill, the legendary John Surtees, Jackie Stewart and end 12 years of waiting.

But think of the future. Hamilton could dominate the sport for the next decade and eclipse even the great Michael Schumacher.

Time is on his side and his success is based on ability, as well as technology. In F1, you don't always get the feeling that's the case.

Even to win it once would be a fantastic achievement and I'll be glued to the TV set hoping to see the Union Jack flag raised to hail a race and championship win.

Go on Lewis, make us proud.
