Ryan Hedges has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with the hamstring injury he sustained against Southampton.

The winger went off after 27 minutes after pulling up chasing for a loose ball in the first half. It's been an injury-hit season for Hedges, who has had no luck.

He missed four months of the season with an injury to the same hamstring which required surgery. He then missed a few matches with a groin problem and has suffered this next blow.

"Ryan is going to be out for the remainder of the season now," Eustace said.

"It's a big blow for us. He's been an exceptional player for myself since I've come in for the last 13 games. I think he's shown how important he is to the group.

"He won't be with us on the field until next season but he certainly will be with the group and supporting them through the last five games.

"Ryan is a fantastic player and a fantastic boy. His attitude has been fantastic whilst I've been here.

"His performances have been very good and he will be missed. Off the field, he's an influence as well. He will keep coming in, keep positive and keep around the boys.

"He'll be encouraging them and he has a vital part to play."

Eustace is hopeful Hedges won't require surgery but admitted it's unclear when he will be back as it isn't a short-term issue.

"It's a bit early to say but it won't be a few weeks unfortunately," Eustace added.

"It might be pre-season when he's back, but I am not 100 per cent sure. I don't believe he will need surgery."

Eustace reported no other fresh injury problems, with John Fleck, Arnor Sigurdsson and Harry Leonard all out for the season. Yasin Ayari is out for a few weeks but could still make an impact this season.
