Gregg Broughton says Rovers’ owners remain “100 per cent committed to the club” - and revealed there are already “clear plans” for the summer.

Venky’s have been using the High Court of Delhi to send money over to the club after their parent company, Venkateshwara Hatcheries Private Limited, was placed under restrictions by the Indian Government.

Rovers’ owners were hopeful of providing another cash injection earlier this year but the court hearing was delayed until August 20.

When asked if the situation in India will impact the club’s transfer business, Broughton told Training Ground Guru: “I have been told that it won’t impact our transfer business going into the summer.

“We have already got clear plans of what we are trying to do and we know what the summer will look like for us as a football club.

“As I have said previously, it is a geopolitical challenge that the ownership group are facing. It is not the football club that is being challenged, it is the enormous global business that they run, of which we are a small but very significant part.

“For us, we have got clarity of what we need to do going into the summer and because of the way we have managed contracts, we don’t have an enormous amount of players coming out of contract.

“All of our players that we feel will attract interest, we know we are in a great position because of the work we have done on contracts over the last 18 months.

“We are in a confident position to go into the summer and hopefully have the squad come out of it in a better position.”

Broughton, who arrived at Ewood Park in the summer of 2022, was also quizzed about his level of contact with the owners.

“I do have direct contact with them,” he explained. “My day-to-day contact is through their representative here at the club.

“The way the club is structured is that the decision-making process always goes through the board of directors and back to the owners. That will be the same at most clubs.”

There had been speculation about Broughton’s own future after an administration error saw Duncan McGuire’s proposed loan move from Orlando City fall through on deadline day.

When asked if he was still committed to the role, the director of football replied: “Absolutely, this is a fantastic football club with a very proud history and way of doing things.

“We have got a clear identity of the way we want to develop players and play football. We are just focusing now on the next game against Ipswich on Good Friday.”
