Here's The Lancashire Telegraph's best guess on how Rovers might line-up against Middlesbrough in the Championship.

Goalkeeper

Aynsley Pears should return in goal for Blackburn Rovers after missing the last two games. The number one is back in training and is expected to replace Leopold Wahlsted.

Defence

Eustace will be forced into a defensive reshuffle with Kyle McFadzean suspended. Connor O'Riordan and Billy Koumetio are the most natural replacements.

The head coach could also deploy Harry Pickering as a third centre-back, allowing for Ben Chrisene or Ryan Hedges to come in at left-wing-back. The latter is fit again after a groin injury.

Callum Brittain, Dom Hyam and Scott Wharton will all start after a free week to rest and recover.

Midfield

Sondre Tronstad and Joe Rankin-Costello remain unavailable until after the international break so John Buckley and Yasin Ayari will likely retain their places. Jake Garrett is also pushing for a start.

Attack

Sam Gallagher and Sam Szmodics are nailed on to start at the Riverside Stadium, the question is who will join them. If Hedges doesn't start at left-wing-back, he could be the third attack.

If not, Tyrhys Dolan and Arnor Sigurdsson will be fighting it out for a place in the forward line.

Predicted Blackburn Rovers team: Pears; Brittain, Hyam, Wharton, Koumetio, Pickering; Ayari, Buckley; Hedges, Szmodics, Gallagher.
