Wow what a track - all new tarmac last year...... really smooth and very grippy.

Got there on Friday with the caravan at about 9pm, set up had a few beers with Chris my friend who race's a Honda CB500 and is leading that championship.

Saturday morning at 4am the biggest thunderstorm i have seen woke my with a jolt the rain sounded like gravel being thrown on at the caravan that lasted 30 min's then fell asleep........so woke up again at 6am bright sunshine and a drying track, had a coffee and went for a stroll around this fantastic track, it's wide most of the way round but gets a little tight on the slower corners with fast, and very fast right handers, some great tight little banked turns and a down hill corkscrew (tight left followed by tight right then left) and a long right hander with 2 apexes that you hit at around 140mph fully lent over - wow that takes some getting your head round i can tell you.

Saturday 10th May 2008 SuperClub - Round 4 race 1.

A fantastic sunny day, absolute fantastic start take 2 before the first corner, second corner carnage sees off 4 other riders - safety car out for 3 laps and waved yellows, no one hurt just a lot of debris on the track, I have a great time on track with lots of knee down action at well over 100 mph on some corners - my bike is the least powerful here with 129 BHP and it shows on the long straights with all others pulling away, I can catch up in some of the corners as im good on the brakes but it hard work and the pack start to leave my behind (its hard when your new to racing) all the practice is starting to pay off though and don't crash out. I finish 3rd novice, David Slater 2nd, Scott Adam 1st.

Saturday race 2.

Its now 14.00 and very hot and humid, its just a struggle getting on leathers and back protector, etc.

Another good start sees me pass 2 other riders again - but by the first long straight they fire past "I just don't have the power" im thinking, again the main pack leave me - so I'm out on my own for 5 of the 6 laps but im consistent as i check my laps times after, as the leader laps me on the last lap - I follow down the straight and I keep up with him for the next 4 corners but he gets away again on the start finish straight......" I need more power !!! " .........I finish 2nd! David Slater 1st...But no Scott Adam! (he was late to the start - the marshall's won't let him race)! wow 20 points to me then.

Sunday 11th May Round 5 Race 1.

Great start again (Im getting good at this bit) same old story about not having the power......massive pile up into the up hill hairpin at the end of the big straight 3 bikes and riders flying in the air, I see debris glinting on the sun as its flying up everywhere....we all get round the carnage, just all riders are ok but safety car and ambulance's are out for 4 laps while the riders are checked over and bikes removed "I'm thinking I'd better watch out here as my slick tyres will be loosing heat and will start to loose grip" so 4 laps behind the safety car see a rolling start, everyone is unsure of the grip now so this pace suites me until we all hit the same corner as the first incident a massive high-side from David Slater on his Ducati 998 see him in the air across the grass and back on to the track the other side of the corner...luckily no one hits him he's shaken and helped out of harms way by the great marshall's.

I have a massive rear end slip getting on the power out of the last corner on to the strat finish straight right in front of freinds who came to watch, I let the throttle off and land back on my seat and carry on " I bet that looked great from the pit wall " - i was lucky to stay on too !!! - Another 6 laps out on my own sees me finish 2nd novice 36 seconds behind Scott Adam in 1st place...but I finish with another 20 points....

I see David Slater later he's ok but was knocked out his £500 helmet did the a great job...the bike will fix with a little time and money but not today.

Sunday Race 2.

A repeat of the races before "not enough power" a get left behind...but I finish, no falls, so good consistent lap times and lots of experience - and another 2nd place behind Scott Adam's first place as David can't race.

Good results....and I'm first in the Novice Championship, just by being consistent and doing the best I can!.

I've already started to make some enquiries to race tune my standard engine its going to cost around £1000 and parts from America to get the much needed 10 bhp ! ...next race is in 5 weeks Pembrey, South Wales on 14th 15th June ..watch this space.
