The Lancashire League season starts this weekend. Here, Lancashire Telegraph Sport looks at Bacup.

  • Captain: Nick Cronshaw
  • Professional: Chris Harris (N Zealand, below)
  • Last season: 5th
  • Ins: Adam Highly, Matt O'Connor, James Cunliffe
  • Outs: Terry Lord

Cronshaw: "It's a very strong league this season, and I don't think any one team will dominate.

"I fancy our chances as much as anyone to be in the shake-up at the end of the campaign.

"We've lost Terry Lord, who has retired from the First XI, and he'll be a big miss for us, but we've got Matt O'Connor and James Cunliffe back, and that will only strengthen us.

"I've also persuaded John Chapman not to hang up his wicketkeeping gloves just yet, so he will play the majority of games for us, and that will give us a huge boost.

"We've got a good mixture of youth and experience.

"The likes of Tim Farragher and Paul Gallagher have had a couple of years in the league, and we'll be looking for them to really step it up this season.

"Ben Lord looks a good young prospect, and young Joe McCluskey will be knocking on the door after representing Lancashire and England.

"And with Chris Harris back as paid man, we should go close."
