The Lancashire League season starts this weekend. Here, Lancashire Telegraph Sport looks at Colne.

  • Captain: Matt Wilson
  • Professional: Blake Snijman (South Africa)
  • Last season: 10th
  • Ins: Chris Holt
  • Outs: Qasim Ali, Sean Lemon, Stuart Lemon, Jeff Ellis

Wilson: "This is my first season as captain and, as a Colne boy, it is a very proud honour.

"I've been at the club for more than 10 years and it is something I have always wanted to do so I am thrilled.

"We have lost some key players this season but it will give some of our youngsters a chance in the first team.

"I suppose you could say that we are rebuilding but we do have some talented young cricketers at the club who may not have had a chance in the past.

"But this season will be a learning curve for them.

"However, what we are lacking in experience I think we will make up with with camaraderie and character.

"Most of the squad are Colne lads so there is real bond and team spirit within the squad and I think that will pull us through.

"We might not be pushing for honours this time but I think we can upset a few teams along the way.

"We did worry that our professional would not be here for the start of the season as he was involved in Twenty20 cricket back in South African.

"But he is arriving this week which is great news for us.

"Blake is young and hungry and a future Test star so it is up to us to back him up."
