MARK Hughes believes Blackburn Rovers are a victim of their own success when it comes to playing at Ewood Park.

Rovers have frustratingly drawn six of their 17 Premiership homes games this season.

And, with Champions-elect Manchester United travelling to East Lancashire this weekend, Hughes is convinced that teams are making a concerted effort to play a more defensive game at Ewood, such has been Rovers' progression since he took over in 2004.

He said: "Maybe there's a perception that we've gone into games and haven't maybe performed as well at home.

"It's been more frustrating really. Maybe that's because teams recognise we're a difficult team to go up against.

"Playing Blackburn Rovers away from home is a difficult game for most, and I'm sure the clubs we've got ahead of us are thinking along those terms.

"Teams now come to Ewood and they have a game-plan.

"They try to stop our threats and try to make it difficult for us, as we do when we go to opposition grounds.

"On occasions, we haven't dealt with that as well as we could have done.

"But that's a learning process and, being a recognised top 10 league club, you're going to get that more often than not.

"Two or three years ago, when teams were coming to Ewood, they were expecting to win. Now they don't."
