Rovers seal new sponsorship deal

BLACKBURN Rovers will have the name Crown Paints on the front of their shirts from next season after the club has struck a lucrative new sponsorship deal.

The company, based in Darwen, has agreed to become Rovers' new main sponsor in a three-year deal which could be worth £4m-£5m, depending on how the team performs.

The move by Crown marks a return to top flight football after more than 20 years away from the game.

Howard Luft, managing director of Crown Paints, said: "A large part of our Darwen workforce are Rovers supporters and I know they will be delighted with this announcement."

Rovers chairman, John Williams, said: "This deal gives us the opportunity to work with a major national brand with the added benefit of a strong local connection."

Crown used to sponsor Liverpool in the 1980s, at a time when the Reds were the most dominant force in European football.

Hopefully there won't be a horrible colour clash like we have on Bet24 which looks ugly. If they are geuine sponsors they should have a logo which complements the blue and white. Bet24 stopped me buying the Umbro shirt which I quite like otherwise.

Time for revenge against Hammers I think - odds on a red card for Neill for retaliation against a late tackle from Gamst ?

this has nothing to do with the shirt sponsership deal just the musings of a footy mad individual, spot the cliche.
'i was sick as a parrot', after saturdays result considering i was 'rover the moon' the week before. as for the 'european dream', most of our supporters 'they think its all over, it is now !'.
some now want to 'blood the kids', 'but you'll never win anything with kids' in saying that the way players speak and act they are nothing but a 'young man, young man'. this was appropriately displayed when our star player 'opened his legs and showed us his class'.
you never know though 'the game lasts 90 mins' and 'its a game of 2 halves' the game is great when its 'end to end' and we are playing 'total football' its a 'beautifull game' then. sometimes though we have to 'dig in' accept that some games are 'backs to the wall stuff' and becomes 'men against boys'. i prefer it when we 'lay seige on the goal' or we are winning comfortably and 'its a stroll in the park'.
well onto the next game, you have to take 'one game at a time' and 'the next game is the most important'
hopefully we'll get 'three points in the bag' that gets us up the table, 'the table never lies' you know.'i would just love it, love it, if we beat them' on saturday, even if its an 'uphill battle' because 'it only takes a second to score a goal'
to all true footy fans out there
make poverty history, free live footyl for all.

hey come on guys you cant 'gloss' over how good a deal this is to a club like ours.
possibly now we wont have to 'paper over the cracks' brush away the cobwebs' and do some spring cleaning.
it may encourage the 'artists' in the team to dislay their 'silk' skills, and give the yoinger players such as 'mat' derbyshire to bristle with confidence knowing the club is financially stable.
some of our more pessimistic supporters may not always want to 'paint it black' but look at the football world thro 'blue and white' eyes.
it would be 'easel' to say this input of cash will not assist in keeping or adding to the current squad, but there are other factors in running a football club, such as carpet instead of 'vinyl' floorcoverings in hospitality area's or appropriate 'decoration' in the dressing rooms.
i for one applaud this deal the 'texture' feels right.
lets hope this news assists us to get were we want to be and helps CROWN our season.

That will not be how the shirt will look next season.

if you look that is this seasons kit and was only used for the press release, and personally i dont think it looks that bad.

next seasons kit designs will be released shortly.
