Neil Hodgson clocked up the ninth best time on the opening day of practice in AMA Superbike Championship in Daytona.
The Burnley Bullet was the quickest of the Honda riders, recording his best lap in 1:37:90.
The former World Superbike Champion is competing in American Superbikes for the second time, following a year out of action.
The first race of the season is on Saturday.
