BURNLEY’S busy fixture list continues as they welcome Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton to Turf Moor (KO 7:45pm).

The Clarets were held to a 1-1 draw at West Ham over the weekend despite taking the lead through Wout Weghorst’s header.

Team news

Ashley Westwood’s season is over after suffering a horror ankle injury during the first half at West Ham.

Captain Ben Mee remains sidelined and is also likely to miss Sunday’s match against Wolves, but interim boss Mike Jackson is hopeful he will be back before the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Erik Pieters are not yet ready to return to first-team action.

The visitors have no fresh injury concerns, while goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is still awaiting his first involvement since recovering from a hamstring issue.

Opposition lowdown

The Saints enter the game in high spirits following a 1-0 win against Arsenal thanks to Jan Bednarek’s first-half strike.

Hasenhuttl’s men are currently 12th in the Premier League table – just a point off the top half with six games still to play before the end of the season.

Burnley have faced Southampton 63 times in their history, with a record of 23 wins, 18 draws and 22 defeats.

The Saints recorded a narrow 1-0 victory in their last trip to Turf Moor back in September 2020 thanks to Danny Ings’ strike against his former club.

Last meeting

The points were shared when the sides met earlier this season following an entertaining 2-2 draw at St Mary’s.

The Clarets went in front thanks to Maxwel Cornet’s header but the hosts hit back through goals from Tino Livramento and Armando Broja.

But Cornet struck again just before the hour mark to rescue a point, beating his man and firing past McCarthy.
