There was no manager of the month curse for Gemma Donnelly as Rovers Ladies kept a fifth successive clean sheet to leave leaders Durham with a point.

It is now five games unbeaten for Rovers, all with clean sheets, to sit fifth in the Women’s Championship standings after an excellent run of form.

Rovers took seven points from nine in an unbeaten November, without conceding, having gone into the month with a victory over London City Lionesses, earning Donnelly the manager of the month prize for November.

And they started December a determined display on the road against a Durham side who are yet to taste defeat this season, the two sides playing out a 0-0 draw.

On the award, Donnelly said: “I am incredibly proud to accept this award on behalf of the team here at Blackburn Rovers.

“Our recent run of form comes from nothing other than hard work and dedication and I am thrilled to have received this accolade.”

Charlotte Newsham and Chelsey Jukes came into the side as Rovers made two changes for the trip to the north east.

Saffron Jordan and Ellie Fletcher both had efforts over the bar early on before goalkeeper Alexandra Brooks kept up her excellent recent form to deny Nicki Gears.

Both sides had penalty appeals turned down, while Elise Hughes had a shot blocked for Rovers, in a game that saw few clear-cut opportunities for either side.

Jade Richards headed wide from a late corner, but neither side did enough to warrant anything more than the point they walked away with.

Rovers will aim to keep up their impressive recent form when they travel to Sheffield United next Sunday (2pm).
