CAPTAIN'S weekend is fast approaching at Rishton Golf Club and Mark Thompson is preparing for his big weekend.
This competition is seen as the most prestigious one of them all at the club - especially with it being the only one to spread over two days.
It is traditional that the captain's do not take part in the competition, so the most important thing for Thompson is to raise money for his chosen charity - East Lancashire Hospice.
Thompson will be holding fundraising competition's on captain's weekend in order to raise additional funds for his chosen charity.
This will be added to the money already raised from the golfer's hitting balls in to the two bunkers in front of the 18th green - meaning they have to put £1 in the captain's bottle.
The two-day competition will see the golfer's tee off on Saturday, September 7 and then the next day will have the leading group tee off last in the afternoon.
A dinner on the Sunday night will be held to present the winner with his trophy and the captain will also do a speech.
This competition is seen as the closing of the golfing season.
