Corry Evans has enjoyed a strong start to the season – and the statistics back up that claim.

Only Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen has made more successful tackles (24) than Evans’ haul of 20. Tied with the Northern Irishman is team-mate Elliott Bennett on the same number.

The pair have also blocked the same number of passes (10), the fourth most in the division.

Evans’ impressive stats continue, with his 15 interceptions only bettered by Henrik Dalsgaard (20) of Brentford and Birmingham defender Kristian Pedersen (19).

Other Rovers players scoring highly on certain attributes are Amari’i Bell, with the sixth most completed dribbles (12) while only four players have won more headers than Darragh Lenihan (48).

Whoscored.com also provide statistics for each of the 24 sides and ranked across the division.

Rovers have managed 124 tackles so far this season, an average of 20.7 a game, a figure only bettered by Nottingham Forest (141). Their 74 fouls see them come in 12th.

No team in the division has also enjoyed more successful dribbles than Rovers, chalking up an average of 10.5 per game.

Tony Mowbray’s side have averaged 10.5 shots on goal per game, and faced 10.2, which see them in sixth and 22nd places respectively.

Rovers have won 192 of their 371 aerial duels, the eighth most, while they have averaged 10.5 interceptions per game, the 11th best.

And while only Hull (9) have blocked fewer shots than Rovers’ 12, only Rotherham (64) have blocked more passes (58).

One area Rovers will look to improve is their use of the ball.

They have average 50.6 per cent possession per game, the 13th most in the division.

But their pass success rate is just 67.9 per cent, the sixth worst, not helped by having played the most inaccurate long balls (327) of any side in the Championship.

They have managed just four key passes, the lowest in the division, attempting 2,366 passes (15th most) and managed 187 accurate long balls (5th).

Only Ipswich (122) have had more unsuccessful touches of the ball than Rovers (115).

Rovers have averaged 17 crosses per game, only three teams attempting fewer, while at an average of 87, no team has tried more long balls.

As ever though, the only statistics that matter are the number of points on the board. With nine from their first six matches, that leaves Rovers in 13th going in to the international weekend.
