ACCRINGTON Stanley manager John Coleman admitted he had mixed emotions about his side’s 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United.

The Reds are still searching for their first League One home win of the season after having to come back from behind in a game they had dominated.

Stanley could have been at least 2-0 up at half-time with the number of chances created.

But they were made to pay for their misses when Matthew Lund scored his first goal for Scunthorpe to give the visitors an unlikely lead in the 80th minute, with captain Seamus Conneely coming to the rescue with an equaliser 90 seconds later.

“I feel as though I’ve lost a tenner and found a pound with that equaliser to be honest,” said Coleman.

“If you don’t take your chances you’re always liable to the sucker punch.

“They had a spell of maybe five or 10 minutes where they didn’t so much put us under pressure but they played the game a bit more in our half that what we did in their half and they scored. Thankfully we had the character to bounce back like we’ve shown all season.

“But it’s frustrating because that’s definitely two points dropped with the domination that we had and the chances that we created.

“It’s difficult to be critical of the players, they’re a bit low. Fleetwood went and beat them 5-0 and were 4-0 up at half-time and all their chances went in. We could have doubled that and ours didn’t go in.

“You can’t be critical of the way we played but of the way we finished. Players don’t go out to miss chances and I suppose you’ve got to give Scunthorpe a bit of credit for throwing their bodies in the way, getting blocks in and making saves.

“But we’d like to be a bit more ruthless. We made enough chances to win the game and if we carry on playing like that we’ll win more than we don’t.”
