Rovers will look to secure the return of Harry Chapman from Middlesbrough before tonight’s 5pm deadline.

And there is a possibility of another incoming before the loan window shuts for EFL clubs. It is understood Rovers have enquired about Chapman’s availability since the permanent window closed on August 9, but the possibility of the 21-year-old returning to Ewood Park, where he played 16 times last season, remains dependant on Boro adding to their squad.

Though Boro boss Tony Pulis yesterday admitted he could sanction a deal for Chapman, with Rovers in pole position should the England youth international be allowed to leave.

“We’re close to couple, and a few might go out as well,” Pulis said.

“We think Harry is a good young player who’s got a lot of potential

“If it’s right for the club and for Harry we have to make that decision. If not, he stays here.”

Rovers have so far made seven summer signings, three of them on loan following the additions of Kasey Palmer, Harrison Reed, and Ben Brereton.

The latter will become permanent in January, but Rovers have space in their squad for two more loans should they see fit.

Chapman would add more firepower to a Rovers frontline which is set to be without Dominic Samuel as the 24-year-old faces an extended period on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The winger has just recovered from a shoulder injury and was a substitute in Boro’s midweek win over Rochdale.

Rovers meanwhile, insist that Bradley Dack is not for sale at any price and won’t be leaving Ewood Park.

Clubs are understood to have enquired about the 24-year-old, but Rovers have stressed that Dack, who could return from injury for this weekend’s trip to Bristol City, remains an integral part of their plans moving forward.

West Bromwich Albion were reportedly interest in signing Dack, but were issued with a firm hands-off warning.

However, there is the possibility of departures from Rovers before this afternoon’s deadline.

Lewis Travis could further his impressive development with a loan spell away from the club, despite having featured in four of the club’s six matches so far this season, including in the Carabao Cup win over Lincoln City on Tuesday.

League One sides Bradford City and Fleetwood Town are understood to have expressed an interest in the 21-year-old with Travis thought to be keen on playing regular first-team football at senior level after breaking through the Academy ranks.

Experienced duo Paul Caddis and Peter Whittingham could also be set to leave with interest in both.

Caddis made his first appearance of the season in Tuesday’s cup win over Lincoln City, although Whittingham wasn’t involved.

The 33-year-old, who started 14 league matches last season, is yet to be included in a matchday squad for Rovers’ opening five Championship fixtures, with his only minutes coming as a substitute in the Carabao Cup win at Carlisle United earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Rovers yesterday allowed Sam Hart to join League One side Rochdale on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old left-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Spotland and hasn’t featured for Rovers since December 30.

Elsewhere, Under-23s captain Lewis Hardcastle will spend the 2018/19 campaign with League Two outfit Port Vale after agreeing a deal with the Valiants yesterday.

Both could make their debuts against Coventry City and Newport respectively, tomorrow.
