Tony Mowbray delivered a positive injury update on Rovers midfielder Elliott Bennett.

The 29-year-old was replaced with 10 minutes to go in the 0-0 draw with Millwall after staying down following a challenge near the corner flag.

There was concern that the injury could be serious, but Mowbray allayed those fears by revealing it was an impact to shin which forced Bennett off.

And the boss revealed that the all-action midfielder will be available for selection for either tomorrow’s Carabao Cup tie at Carlisle United or the weekend trip to Hull City.

“I thought he had gone over on his knee,” Mowbray said of his initial concerns.

“It couldn’t have been any further away from me but it looked as though he’d twisted his knee.

“I was concerned because he’s had cruciate injuries in the past but he’s warrior and I knew he wanted to play on but I thought it was right we took him off.

“I went to see him straight away after the game finished and it turned out he’d been studded down his shin and he’s got a huge gash.

“It’s not ligament damage, nothing twisted, it was just a cut down his leg so he’ll be fine for whenever we need him either Tuesday or Saturday.”
