KASEY Palmer has become Rovers’ third summer signing after agreeing a season-long loan switch from Chelsea.

Palmer follows Joe Rothwell and Jacob Davenport through arrivals door this summer.

The 21-year-old has experience of the Championship, helping Huddersfield Town to promotion in 2016/17 and finishing last season on loan at Derby County.

Palmer will add competition to Rovers’ attacking midfield options, with Ewood boss Tony Mowbray having been keen to provide competition to Bradley Dack.

Highly-rated by Chelsea, Palmer signed a new four-year deal at Stamford Bridge in 2017 before returning to Huddersfield Town on loan, but he made just four Premier League appearances before moving to Derby.

Palmer scored for the Terriers in their 1-1 draw at Ewood in December 2016 and has seven goals in 21 career starts.

The attacking midfielder has been a player Rovers have tracked for much of the summer, and Mowbray will now need to decide whether to involve him in the opening game of the Championship season at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Palmer, an England Under-21 international, is available to play in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup and will wear number 45 for Rovers.
