John Coleman was happy with a win over Blackburn Rovers to finish pre-season but says the opening League One game at Gillingham will be 'unbelievably different'.

Stanley have remained unbeaten throughout pre-season which has included wins over Huddersfield, Middlesbrough and now Rovers.

Billy Kee's well taken goal in the 12th minute proved the difference, and Coleman said: “I was pleased with the result. I thought we hit a flat spot about half an hour in to the game.

“We were excellent at the start, dominated and got on top of them, had chances and scored a good goal.

“They came in to the game and the first 10 minutes of the second half they battered us. They were like the Red Arrows, committed a lot of men forward, and we had to adjust and we did.

“For the last half hour we nullified them and adapted to a new formation.

“They have worked hard throughout pre-season and hopefully that stands us in good stead for the long, hard season we have ahead of us.

“It will be unbelievably different (against Gillingham) but all we can do is prepare them in the best way.

“We will do our best to come up with a formula and a plan that will mean we can beat them."

Kayden Jackson set up Kee's goal and remains a man in demand. The striker has been the subject of several bids over the course of the summer, with Coleman admitting they could soon get to a level which Stanley couldn't turn down.

He said: “We have had enquiries about five or six of our players. At the moment we’ve managed to keep hold of them.

“Bids are coming in and they are getting near to the numbers we should be getting for our players.

“Everyone has their price and if a bid comes in that matches that price then we can’t be turning down money that could be changing the club’s history.

“The big priority us is the training ground, and once that’s done we can’t rest on our laurels but we can be safe in the knowledge we’re competing at the same level and we’re not at the moment.

“The sooner we get our own base, somewhere we can train and be proud of, spend the time we have allocated to the best of our ability which we are not at the minute."

On incomings, he added: “I still think we need to bring in three or four players and we have been frustrated in our attempts to bring in a new goalkeeper. Hopefully we will be able to get that over the line on Monday or Tuesday."
