Rovers will host a day of celebration before, during and after Saturday’s final game of the season against Oxford United at Ewood Park.

Tony Mowbray’s men head in to this weekend’s fixture still with an outside chance of lifting the League One title after promotion to the Championship was secured last week.

Whatever the result on Saturday, the players will remain on the pitch at the end of the game, before taking part in a lap of honour, to show their appreciation to the fans, of which over 20,000 are expected.

The club are therefore asking fans not to invade the pitch at the end of the 90 minutes.

Before the game, the club’s player and goal of the season awards will be handed out.

Rovers Ladies, who secured the FA Women’s Premier League Cup courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Leicester City on Sunday will also be on the pitch so their success can be celebrated.

Also, at half-time, Rovers Under-23s, who concluded their title-winning campaign with a 4-1 win at West Brom last week, will be presented with the Premier League 2 Division Two trophy.

A club spokesman said: “With a bumper crowd expected at Ewood Park, it promises to be a day to remember for everyone connected with the club and we request that all supporters remain in their seats at the end of the game in order for the on-pitch presentations and celebrations to take place in a safe environment.

“The safety of players, managers, fans and match officials is of paramount importance and supporters who encroach onto the pitch risk facing banning orders as well as a criminal conviction, while the club could also face a fine.

“Thank you for your continued support and understanding in this matter.”
